If you are a hospital owned clinic you may be subject to the three-day payment rule. The HCPCS modifier PD will need to added for diagnosis or related non-diagnostic items or services provided in a wholly owned or operated entity to a patient who is admitted as an inpatient within three days.
THIS RULE DOES NOT APPLY TO RURAL HEALTH CLINICS!
If you are a provider based rural health clinic, this rule does not apply. You will continue to bill being paid on cost base reimbursement.
